NEW DELHI: A trainer aircraft operated by private aviation academy Carver Aviation veered off the runway during a training exercise at the Baramati airstrip in Maharashtra’s Pune district on Sunday, police said.The incident occurred around 12.30 pm when the aircraft, carrying a pilot and a cadet, was conducting a circuit and landing emergencies exercise, officials said. No casualties were reported, as reported by news agency PTI.The aircraft, identified as VT-SEX, was unable to come to a complete stop at the designated point while taxiing on the runway. It was then positioned at the threshold of Runway 11, where another rejected take-off was conducted.

Subsequently, it veered off the extended paved surface to the right side beyond the Runway 29 threshold. No injuries have been reported,” the official said, as quoted by PTI.The aircraft sustained a runway excursion during the training exercise, while further details about the incident were awaited.The incident comes months after a fatal aircraft crash near the same airstrip. On January 28, a Learjet 45 operated by VSR crashed while attempting an emergency landing near Baramati. Maharashtra’s then deputy chief minister and NCP chief Ajit Pawar and four others on board were killed in the crash.Earlier, on May 13, another trainer aircraft operated by a private company made a crash landing near the Baramati airstrip after developing a technical snag. However, no casualties were reported in that incident.
