Change The Soch: 21-city drive to boost women's finance literacy

Across India, women are increasingly playing a central role in managing household finances, yet access to structured financial education continues to remain uneven across regions. Now, a drive – literally – seeks to address this issue. Change The Soch Drive, a nationwide awareness journey, will get under way today from Kanyakumari and work its way up to Kashmir, covering 21 cities in all.The initiative by Franklin Templeton will feature a nationwide series of on-ground seminars, aimed at strengthening financial literacy. It will cover urban, semi-urban and rural centres through a structured pit-stop format. While the interactive sessions will be open to both men and women, women are expected to form a significant part of the audience, reflecting their growing involvement in household financial decision-making.The seminars will focus on building foundational financial understanding, addressing topics such as savings, long-term planning, and disciplined investing. Special attention will be given to everyday financial realities, including irregular incomes, rising expenses, and the need to plan for long-term goals such as education, healthcare, and financial security.Participants will be encouraged to ask questions, share experiences, and discuss challenges specific to their circumstances. This conversational format is designed to make financial education approachable, relevant, and rooted in lived experience.
